Today I will be looking at the Elite Trainer Deck Shield: what it is, why it's good and what players may prefer a different product so you can decide whether this is the product for you!
What is an Elite Trainer Deck Shield?
It's from the "elite trainer" range, along with the elite trainer box, so is designed for semi-competitive players. It contains a little of everything, so can be very useful for someone who has a few cards, but needs to power up their deck more. It's also one of the only reliable ways of getting energy cards, outside of elite trainer boxes and theme decks. Each comes with:
- Deck box with a storage compartment in the lid to store dice and poison / burn counters
- 2 booster packs
- 45 energy cards
Why is it good?
- It has a little of everything, so you get a good mix of products
- You get 45 energies, so if you're new, getting a couple of these is a great way to expand your collection, get all the energies you need and have handy storage containers
- It's cheaper than buying everything separately. 2 boosters + 45 energy + a deck box separately would cost you around $28, and that would be for a plastic deck box, not a metal one like you get with the elite trainer deck shield
- The deck box is made of metal, so it will last quite a while. It's also very handy because of the compartment for the dice, meaning it's all you need to take with you if you go to a tournament
- The deck box looks cooler than a standard Ultra Pro one.
- They make great gifts because they're easy to wrap and are a little cooler than standard booster packs
Who may prefer something else?
- If you're a highly competitive player, you probably have deck boxes coming out of your ears! You'd also probably have plenty of energy cards, so you'd be better off just buying booster packs.
- For anyone playing at home that just wants a bunch of cards, getting a theme deck or booster packs would work out to be better value for you.
- If you're looking for a way to store your cards, standard deck boxes or folders may be a better choice.
- If you have a slightly bigger budget, tins work out at great value and also have the handy tin to store all your cards!
