Triple Power Tins Product Review

We've just got in the Triple Power Tins on the website and they're a great value item for both new and competitive players. I will have a look at what each contains and do a run-down of why they're such a great product. Keep reading because somewhere in the article I've also hidden a discount code! This code is valid for one month from the date this article went up.

What's in the tins?

Each tin contains 4 booster packs from a variety of the more recent XY sets as well as the EX card and an online code card. This means you're always guaranteed the EX in the tin and have a chance to pull more good cards out of the boosters. This is a great way to get packs if you're not after anything in particular as it gives you a variety of packs so you'll get a good range of cards.

What about the promos?

For new players, there are some misconceptions about promo cards. YES you can use them in a tournament, they're exactly the same as a regular card, so don't worry about not being able to use it, just because it's a promo doesn't mean it's banned! So let's take a look at each promo

Mewtwo

Everyone loves Mewtwo, he's one of the all-time favourites of Pokemon fans. Mewtwo also tends to be quite strong in the card game, just like he is in the video games. This promo Mewtwo can be a very hard-hitter. The card hasn't seen a lot of competitive play, mostly down to the lack of support for psychic types. The first attack is very similar to the old Mewtwo EX, because it also does more damage the more energies Mewtwo has. If you can find a way to power up Mewtwo quickly (perhaps Max Elixir, but remember this can only be used on basics that are on your bench), you can essentially do as much damage as you like with the first attack. Also if your opponent manages to hit your Mewtwo quite hard, you can always use the second attack to put all those damage counters on your opponents Pokemon, so Mewtwo can also heal himself in this way. Mewtwo is a versatile attacker that would be perfect for anyone running a psychic deck, but we may have to wait for a little more psychic support before it sees a lot of competitive play. Definitely worth trying out in a deck, try combining it with Mystery Energy so Mewtwo even gets free retreat. You can find the tin here.

Gyarados

Again, one of the favourite Pokemon of Pokemon fans everywhere. I'm not sure if it's because he evolves from a pretty useless fish, or just because he's an awesome dragon, but either way, Gyarados is always one of the most popular Pokemon around. Gyarados is another interesting EX because it helps to power itself up and then hits for a lot of damage and also spreads 10 damage to each Pokemon on your opponents bench. This means that if they retreat a pokemon with very little health left, you can use the second attack a couple of times and knock it out as well as probably knocking out the active pokemon, making it a very versatile attacker! Again, there isn't a lot of support for water Pokemon, but cards like dive ball, splash energy and archie's ace in the hole help water decks to set up. You could use Archie's Ace in the Hole to get out an Octillery, which would help you set up faster as well. To accelerate your energy, you can just use Gyarados' first attack, or again you could use Max Elixir to help speed it up. You can find the Gyarados tin here!

Machamp

Machamp is probably typically the least popular Pokemon out of the three, but I think it has a lot of potential as a card. Fighting has a lot more support than water and psychic (see this recent deck profile for more info). The idea of this card is that you can use either attack to do a lot of damage. Use the first attack if Machamp has a lot of damage on him, or if you think you'll need to do 160+ damage the next turn. Then use the second attack if you need to finish off a Pokemon. With all the bonuses that fighting Pokemon can get, such as Strong Energy, Fighting Stadium and more, Machamp can easily knock out most things in a single attack, making him an incredibly strong attacker. The one problem is that you'll need to attach 2-3 energies one at a time to power him up. Again, Max Elixir is a good option or you could just leave him on your bench and take a few turns to power him up, while using cards like Hawlucha and Landorus to help you set up. I think Machamp is possibly the most competitive of the three tins because of the support there is for fighting, which makes up for his lack in popularity, if anyone would like one of these tins, enter the code: MACHAMP1 at the checkout to get $2 off each Machamp tin you buy! If you'd like one of these tins, you can find Machamp here!

Final Words

So there's your 3 options for these awesome tins. While the booster packs within the tins are not guaranteed, most of them contain 2x Breakpoint booster packs, 1x Primal Clash and 1x Furious Fists. You can have a look at all of the tins here and make up your own mind about which is best!
